Just released from the dop
Set one today. This is a feldspare I believe to be a orthoclase stone. The hardness is around a 6.5. It took a very nice polish treating it just like quartz. These other stones are a cabochon style and are being offered for custom ring size or untill they are a size 7 set in silver. So if you like speak up. $30 per ring.
You can find the ring at my store along with other jewelry I have made.
Get your bling on,

All three off the dop
I finally broke down, wrapped the stone with a wet paper towel, got the torch out and heated up the dop ever so slightly a little at a time to allow the heat to do its thing without over heating the stone. Even after the dop released from the stoneand as I was holding the stone I could feel how the stone had absorbed the heat quickly as I handled the stone it cooled down, I washed the stone, cleaned, took the pictures, weighed and measured.

Today we look at the Sapphire and what I am going to do with my rough. I now have all the ability to polish this #Gemstone. But after watching this video I am into grading what I have. This guy knows his stuff and I want to do right by the stone. Sapphires like Turquoise take special handeling to bring out the best in the stone. That is why I feel I have graduated from Rocks to Stones. Don't get me wrong I still love Rocks and hounding but I am finding easier ways to get my Rough Off! But for now we are polishing and grading. Enjoy!
